Baseball and softball make up much of the local Friday schedule with the continuation of state tournaments in Arkansas.
The Mountain Home High School baseball team will compete in the quarterfinals of the Class 5A State Tournament at Hot Springs. The Bombers will meet Sheridan.
Mountain Home is currently 17-11-1 on the season. The Bombers, the third-seeded team from the 5A-West, got past Little Rock Christian on Thursday.
Sheridan entered the tournament as the champions of the 5A-South. The Yellowjackets breezed their way past Greene County Tech in the first round.
The first pitch at Majestic Park is scheduled for 3. Friday’s game will be on Classic Hits 101.7 and streaming live at ktlo.com and on the Bomber Sports Network channel on YouTube.
Izard County will be at the Arkadelphia Youth Sports Complex for the quarterfinals of the Class 1A State Baseball Tournament. The Cougars face Nemo Vista at 3.
Melbourne will take part in the last quarterfinal game of the Class 2A State Baseball Tournament at South Side-Bee Branch. The Bearkatz take on Buffalo Island Central at 5:30.
Harrison will wrap up the quarterfinals of the Class 4A State Tournament at Nashville. The Goblins play Pulaski Academy at 5:30.
District play continues for high school baseball in Missouri, and Dora will host the semifinals of the Class 1, District 4 Tournament. The Falcons will be paired with Greenwood at 4.
Two area softball teams will be among the quarterfinalists of the Class 1A State Tournament at the Arkadelphia Youth Sports Complex. Calico Rock and Wonderview get underway at 10, and Mammoth Spring meets Taylor at 5:30.
Melbourne returns to South Side-Bee Branch for the quarterfinals of the Class 2A State Softball Tournamennt. The Lady Bearkatz face Mansfield at 10.
Harrison will play its first game in the Class 4A State Softball Tournament at Nashville City Park. After having a first round bye, the Lady Goblins take on Bauxite in the quarterfinals at 3.
