The season ended Friday for two area high school softball teams in the Class 1A State Tournament at Arkadelphia. Calico Rock fell to Wonderview 9-0, and Mammoth Spring lost to Taylor 15-0.
Melbourne is one win away from advancing to the championship game of the Class 2A State Softball Tournament. The Lady Bearkatz invoked the mercy rule in the fifth inning and blanked Mansfield 10-0 at South Side-Bee Branch.
Harrison advanced to the semifinals of the Class 4A State Softball Tournament in walkoff fashion. The Lady Goblins squeaked by Bauxite 2-1.
