A Marion County man is accused of raping a teenager living with him on multiple occasions nearly eight years ago. Thirty-year-old Perry Leroy Cheever was arrested Friday on three Class Y felony counts of rape. Class Y is the most serious classification of crime in Arkansas not punishable by death.
According to the probable cause affidavit, a Marion County deputy took a complaint from a 21-year-old woman in October saying she was 13 when the incidents occurred around 2014. She claims she was living with Cheever and his wife at their residence in Bruno. The victim alleges he would walk by and touch her inappropriately. At first, she reportedly thought it was an accident, but it continued on multiple occasions and became more forceful.
The victim accuses Cheever of eventually raping her, and it occurred four different times. She said it happened a couple of times in the residence and other time in his vehicle. She said Cheever and his wife had been arguing, and he left the residence with the victim in the vehicle and pulled over on the side of the road. She stated she was an unwilling participant in each occasion.
Cheever is currently free from the Marion County Law Enforcement Center on a bond of $50,000.
