Despite declining numbers nationally, teacher shortages not being seen locally

While numbers of teachers have declined nationally in recent years creating shortages in many school districts in the nation and parts of Arkansas, especially with the COVID-19 pandemic, the numbers locally have not been affected as much.

Edie Stewart is the Educator Effectiveness Program Manager for Arkansas’ Division of Elementary and Secondary Education and a 1985 graduate of Mountain Home High School. She joined Brad Haworth during the news at 7 Monday morning to discuss the need for more teachers and how her department is working to get more people into the profession.
