Litty elected Baxter County judge; Walker wins District 10 JP race

Baxter County’s runoff election results are in, and a new judge has been elected. Kevin Litty will take the office in January after defeating Brian Plumlee on Tuesday.

Litty ended up with 2,209 votes for 54% of the tally. Plumlee had 1,917 votes for 46%.

After learning about the results, Litty spoke with KTLO, Classic Hits and The Boot’s Heather Loftis.

Litty will win the Baxter County judge’s seat with no opponent in the November general election. He is succeeding Mickey Pendergrass, who decided not to run for reelection.

When Litty takes his new position, his current position on the Baxter County Quorum Court will be filled by Shannon Walker. Walker defeated Sheila Wingard in the race for District 10 justice of the peace. Walker had 250 votes for 70% over Wingard’s 108 votes for 30%. Walker will not have an opponent in November.

The race for District 2 constable was won by Patrick D. Smith. The incumbent ended up with 186 votes for 54% over Daniel K. Carley with 160 votes for 46%.

Portions on Baxter and Fulton counties also decided on Position 2 in the Viola School Board. Dustin Cotter had 268 votes for 54% to get the win. Derek Winter ended up with 229 votes for 46%.

All results are unofficial until certified by the county election commissions.
