
The first round of the Arkansas Junior Amateur Championship is in the books at Big Creek Golf and Country Club, and the best performance from Tuesday came on the girls’ side.
Mackenzie Lee of Little Rock sits at the top of the leaderboard with an eight-under-par 64. The lone area golfer on the girls’ side, Landrey King of Harrison, is 13th with a 101.
There’s a tie for the lead in the boys’ 14-to-18 age group. Easton Denney of Cabot and Jackson McLaughlin of Little Rock both shot a four-under-par 68. Among area golfers, Roby Cooper of Melbourne is 38th with an 81, Carter Manry of Melbourne and Luke Fletcher of Mountain View are part of a four-way tie for 39th place with an 82, Elijah Wilkes of Franklin is part of a tie for 48th with a 90, and Christian Cloyd of Mountain Home is 51st with a 96.
Garrison Whitworth has the first round lead in the boys’ 12-and-13 age group. Whitworth shot a two-under par 70 on Tuesday.
The final round is scheduled for Wednesday.
