A man is accused of threatening to kill his fiancee’s son and his dog with the son’s children in observance. Fifty-four-year-old Shawn Patrick, whose address is listed in Huntsville, is in the Marion County Law Enforcement Center on a bond of $10,000.

According to the probable cause affidavit, a Marion County deputy responded to a residence north of Flippin on Arkansas Highway 178 and observed a male, identified as Patrick, sitting on the porch. Patrick reportedly stated he had been arguing with his fiancee’s son about animals. The deputy states Patrick’s speech was slurred, and he noticed the smell of intoxicants and a whiskey bottle on the porch.

Patrick was also allegedly carrying a knife in a sheath. After Patrick put the knife on a table as instructed, the deputy then searched him, located another knife in his pants pocket and placed it in the patrol unit.

Another deputy spoke with the complainant, who stated he and Patrick had been talking for a short period of time. A few minutes later, Patrick’s fiancee approached her son and asked him to leave because “Shawn didn’t like me or my dog.” As the complainant was leaving, he reportedly told Patrick, “Man, I can’t believe you.” Patrick reportedly responded by saying, “Really? Come say it to my face.” Patrick allegedly pulled a hunting knife and threatened to stab the complainant and cut his dog’s neck. The victim says Patrick was intoxicated and making the threats in front of his children, ages 7 and 3.

The first deputy spoke with Patrick’s fiancee, and she corroborated her son’s account. She also added Patrick stated his three brothers would “take care of my son.”

The complainant’s wife also gave a statement to authorities. She states she and her husband are separated, and she arrived to pick up their children. Her mother-in-law reportedly told her Patrick was going to leave, and they needed to leave as he gathered his belongings. The woman also reportedly corroborated her husband’s account.

The deputy says he placed Patrick under arrest and administered a portable breathalyzer test. His blood alcohol content read .29. After transporting Patrick to the law enforcement center, the deputy administered a second test, and the blood alcohol content was .27.

Patrick faces one felony count each of aggravated assault on a family or household member and first-degree terroristic threatening and two misdemeanor counts of endangering the welfare of a minor.
