A Stone County man has been arrested after a woman told law enforcement she was choked until she lost consciousness and woke up at the bottom of a pool. Deputies arrested 40-year-old Corey Joshua Grinder on a charge of aggravated assault on a family or household member.

According to the probable cause statement in the case, the incident took place at a residence in Fox. The victim alleges Grinder choked her until she was unconscious and threw her into the swimming pool. She says she was at the bottom of the pool when she regained consciousness.

The victim says Grinder threw her phone in the pool too. She was able to get away and call law enforcement through OnStar in her vehicle.

The report says the victim had bruises on her arm and neck and red marks on her face, consistent with someone who had been choked.

Grinder is free from jail after posting $10,000 bond.
