After another day off Thursday, the St. Louis Cardinals will begin a three-game weekend series in Washington Friday evening.
The Cardinals are 52-47 and are three games behind Milwaukee in the National League Central. The Nationals are 34-66 and trail the Mets by 28 games in the National League East.
Miles Mikolas (7-8) starts for St. Louis while Washington sends Anibal Sanchez (0-2) to the hill.
