Shoppers in Arkansas will see another year of tax-free purchasing during the 10th annual sales tax holiday beginning Saturday. Purchases must be made between 12:01 a.m. Saturday and 11:59 p.m. Sunday to qualify as tax-free.

According to the Department of Finance and Administration, during the 48-hour period, state and local sales tax will not be collected on clothing and footwear if the sales price is less than $100 per item, clothing accessories and equipment if the sales price is less than $50 per item, school supplies, art supplies and school instructional materials.

This will be the second year electronics are included in the tax-free items. DFA communications director, Scott Hardin, says the decision was made last year after students became dependent on technology during the COVID-19 pandemic.

All retailers are required to participate and may not charge tax on items legally tax-exempt during the sales tax holiday.

By Missouri state law, the sales tax holiday begins on the first Friday in August and continues through the following Sunday.

The sales tax holiday begins at 12:01 a.m. on Friday, August 5, and runs through Sunday, August 7.
