U.S. Drought Monitor still shows most of area in severe drought

Despite several rounds of rain in the past couple of weeks, the new U.S. Drought Monitor, released Thursday morning, still shows most of the area in the severe drought category. In northern Arkansas, the northern half of Baxter County, northern three-quarters of Marion County, the western quarter of Searcy County, the eastern two-thirds of Boone County and all of Newton County are in severe drought.

The western third of Boone County continues to be listed in the extreme drought category.

Most of Fulton and Izard counties, the northern half of Stone County and the northeastern half of Searcy County is shown in the moderate category.



In southern Missouri, the western three-quarters of Ozark and Douglas counties and all of Taney County are shown in the severe drought category. All of Howell County is now in moderate drought.
