Drought continues in Twin Lakes Area despite recent rains

Despite some recent rain, most of the Twin Lakes Area is still dealing with drought conditions, with a large part of north central Arkansas still in severe drought according to the U.S. Drought Monitor’s latest update. The new maps, released Thursday, show the northern half of Baxter County, most of Marion, all of Boone and Newton counties and a small part of northern Searcy County in severe drought.

The west central part of Boone County is shown in the extreme drought condition.

The southern half of Baxter County, along with most of Fulton, Izard and Stone counties and shown to be in moderate drought.



In southern Missouri, Ozark, Douglas and Taney counties along with the northern and southern parts of Howell County are shown to be in moderate drought. The central section of Howell County is listed as abnormally dry.
