A rural Mountain Home woman is accused of stealing mail from several residents in the area. Thirty-eight-year-old Erika Rorie was also arrested Sunday morning on multiple drug and weapons charges.
According to Baxter County Sheriff John Montgomery, a deputy came across a female sitting on the side of County Road 28 and stopped to check on her welfare. The woman reportedly said she was picking up her boyfriend’s mail, but she could not provide her boyfriend’s name or address.
The deputy reportedly noticed several articles of mail scattered around where the female was sitting, and they were addressed to various people in the area. The woman was identified as Rorie and taken into custody, but she asked if she could be allowed to return the mail without being arrested.
During a search, the deputy reportedly located 33 pieces of mail belonging to seven different individuals. Rorie also allegedly had approximately three grams of suspected methamphetamine, drug paraphernalia, various prescription pills, marijuana and brass knuckles in her purse.
Rorie was booked into the Baxter County Detention Center on felony counts of possession of a controlled substance (methamphetamine), possession of drug paraphernalia and criminal use of prohibited weapons, 33 misdemeanor counts of theft of property and two misdemeanor counts of possession of a controlled substance. She is currently free on a bond of $15,000.
