Friday football results include Yellville-Summit beating up on Decatur

For the second straight week, the Yellville-Summit High School football team invoked the mercy rule. The Panthers’ last road test of the nonconference slate ended with a 52-6 victory at Decatur on Friday. Yellville-Summit improves to 3-0 on ths season, and they’ll host Mountainburg for their nonconference finale next week.

Salem is also currently unbeaten on the year. The Greyhounds hosted Riverview from their home opener and came away with a 28-7 win. Salem’s record stands at 3-0, and their last nonconference game will be next week at Walnut Ridge.

Melbourne was also able to pick up a win in front of the home crowd. The Bearkatz, currently ranked fifth in Class 3A by the Arkansas Sports Media, beat up on Cave City 44-18. Melbourne is now 3-0 on the year, and they’ll wrap up nonconference play next week at Hoxie.

Harrison’s last nonconference game of the season also ended up being their first loss of the year. The Goblins were edged out by Batesville 25-24 in overtime. Harrison falls to 2-1, and they’ll start 5A-West action in two weeks by hosting Farmington.

On the eight-man level, Marshall’s first conference game turned out to be their first win of the year. The Bobcats topped Cutter-Morning Star 34-16. Marshall improves to 1-2 overall and 1-0 in the 4A/3A division, they’ll travel to Subiaco Academy next week.

Mountain View also had a successful conference opener as they went into the game as the top-ranked team in Classes 4A/3A. The Yellowjackets routed Subiaco Academy 36-6. Mountain View is now 2-0 on the season and 1-0 in the 4A/3A division, and they’ll head to Rose Bud next week.
