Melbourne girls claim 3A-2 District golf title

The 3A-2 District Golf Tournament was played Tuesday at Cooper’s Hawk Golf Course in Melbourne with the Melbourne girls and Harding Academy boys winning the titles.

The Lady Bearkatz had a team total of 266 to finish 25 strokes ahead of Salem.

Melbourne’s Sophie Love was medalist with an 82. Annie Rush and Abbie Lawrence each shot 92.

For the Lady Greyhounds, Katie Fish shot 87, Madison Busch had a 96 and Chloe Taylor shot 108.

On the boys’ side, Harding Academy shot a 232 to finish 20 strokes ahead of Mountain View. Melbourne was third, on shot behind the Yellowjackets.

For the Bearkatz, Carter Manry led the way with a 78 which tied him for the second lowest score of the day, Logan Seay had an 86 and Brennon Burch shot an 89.

Mountain View was led by Trevor Downs with a 79, Collin Johnson shot 84 and Beck Morrow followed with an 89.

Salem’s top golfers were Dryvyr Springstun with an 85 and Hank Guiltner shot 92.
