A Mountain Home man was arrested Tuesday after failing to appear in a recent hearing for charges against him stemming from an incident earlier this year.
According to court records, 37-year-old Alfonso Moran, Jr. was scheduled to appear for a final appearance prior to trial on Sept. 19 in Baxter County Circuit Court. When he failed to appear, Circuit Court Judge John Putman, ordered Moran’s bond be forfeited and issued a warrant for his arrest.
Back in April, Moran was charged with a number of drug paraphernalia, weapon and firearm possession charges stemming from an incident in February. According to the probable cause affidavit, Moran was being investigated by the 14th Judicial Drug Task Force for purchasing and selling narcotics and was arrested following the execution of a search warrant for the possession of methamphetamine, heroin, cocaine and Fentanyl, along with possession of firearms and weapons during controlled substance offenses.
Investigators in that case noticed Moran selling a vehicle and set a meeting to view it. Upon arrival, Moran observed law enforcement on the scene and entered a detached garage, where they had to force entry after several attempts to get him to surrender. He was located behind a vehicle and placed under arrest. During the search, authorities located a digital scale, two glass pipes with white residue, .22 caliber ammunition, 20-gauge ammunition, a .22 caliber bolt action rifle, and a Pardner model 20 gauge that was defaced. In the home, several glass pipes with marijuana and white residue were located, along with a plastic bag with a white crystalline substance, two plastic bags containing marijuana, two digital scales, and a 20-gauge single shotgun that was also defaced. The evidence field tested positive for methamphetamine and Fentanyl.
In a separate incident, Moran was charged with forgery, fraudulent use of a credit or debit card and theft of property less than $1,000 in July of this year. According to the probable cause affidavit, the victim asked Moran to pick up a few items from the local store for her since she was occupied with a task, and she proceeded to share her card and PIN. Before he left, she realized the store was already closed and Moran returned the card, where the victim placed it in the side pocket of her purse. The following day, she realized her card was missing and a withdrawal of $550 had been made. Subpoenaed video from the bank confirmed a withdrawal occurred and shows a male subject making the transaction, who was later identified as Moran.
Moran is currently being held in the Baxter County Detention Center on a $31,805 bond.
