
The latest unemployment numbers show big improvement in north central Arkansas but a slight increase in southern Missouri. The data is from the month of August.
In Baxter County, the unemployment rate fell from 4.2% to 3.6% which is tied for the 26th lowest rate out of Arkansas’ 75 counties. Baxter County has 603 unemployed residents out of a workforce of 16,565.
Marion County’s rate also stands at 3.6%, down from 4.1% in July. There are 228 unemployed in Marion County out of a labor force of 6,248.
Fulton County’s rate dropped from 4.3% to 3.4% which is tied for the 19th lowest rate in the state. Out of a workforce of 4,991, Fulton County has 168 out of work.
In Izard County, the unemployment rate of 5.7% is ranked 69th out of 75 counties. That’s down from 6.8% the previous month. Izard County has 253 unemployed out of a labor force of 4,410.
Stone County saw its rate fall to 4% from 5.5% in July. The 4% is tied for 40th in the state. Out of a workforce of 4,701, Stone County has 190 out of work.
Searcy County’s rate stands at 4.4%, down from 5.3%, which is tied for 53rd in the state. There are 129 unemployed in Searcy County from a labor force of 2,910.
Boone County’s rate of 3% is tied for 9th lowest in the state. The rate is down from 3.3% in July. Boone County has a work force of 15,491 with 472 out of work.
Newton County has the state’s sixth lowest rate at 2.9%, down from 3.5% the previous month. Newton County has 90 unemployed out of a labor force of 3,151.
Ozark County’s rate rose from 3.8% to 4.3% in August. There are 137 Ozark County residents out of work from a labor force of 3,216.
Douglas County saw its rate go from 2.9% to 3.2% in August. Douglas County has a workforce of 4,977 with 160 unemployed.
In Howell County, the rate dropped from 3.6% to 3.5%. There are 559 out of work in Howell County from a labor force of 15,806.
The rate in Taney County rose from 3.7% to 3.8% in August. Taney County’s workforce is 27,004 with 1,039 unemployed.
The rate for the state of Arkansas rose from 3.3% to 3.4% in August. Missouri’s rate rose from 2.9% to 3%.
