Aggravated assault on home health aide leads to felony charges for Izard County woman

An Izard County woman is facing 2 counts of aggravated assault and terroristic threatening after an altercation with her home health care aide.

According to the probable cause affidavit, 61-year-old Tammy Boyce of Melbourne, said she struck the victim’s vehicle after they refused to leave the property. Officers on the scene later confirmed that the victim as there in a professional capacity for home health care.

The victim stated she arrived at Boyce’s home around 8 in the morning to perform her home health care job, where she stayed in her vehicle until 8:05 when her shift began. From her vehicle, she could hear Boyce yelling and making loud sighs. The victim assumed she was yelling at the cats, so she proceeded to exit her vehicle and walked to the house. Boyce appeared visibly upset and began calling the victim names and demanded she leave. The victim did elect to leave, but walked across the street so she could get cell phone service so she could use GPS from her phone.

Boyce then got into her vehicle and drove into the victim’s care, leaving a dent on the driver’s side door near the door handle. The victim stated that Boyce accelerated enough to throw rocks and swerve towards the victim in an attempt to hit her and she was able to get out of the way by leaping off the roadway. Boyce then drove off at a high rate of speed.

The victim called 911 and waited for them to arrive in her car. While waiting, she was advised to leave the property by her employer due to the nature of the incident that had just occurred. She then informed officers that while she was driving back home, she encountered Boyce again. She stated that Boyce appeared to accelerate and maneuvered her vehicle to the victim’s travel lane, in an attempt to hit her head on. The victim drove into a ditch to prevent the collision.

Law enforcement was notified by the home health office that Boyce had contacted them saying she did not want the victim as her aide any longer and said she intentionally hit the victim’s vehicle. In addition, she threatened to strike the victim in the head with a hammer if she was still on the property when she arrived home.

Boyce is charge with two felony counts of aggravated assault and one count of terroristic threatening. She is being held in the Izard County Detention Center on $10,000 bond.
