
The positive trends have continued in October for Baxter County and the City of Mountain Home’s sales tax revenue.
According to Alma Clark, the City of Mountain Home’s Director of Finance and Treasury, the city collected a total of $557,166 in sales tax revenue which is an increase of 9% from this time last year. Year-to-date, the city has seen a total increase of $401,404 which is an increase of 8%.
Figures released by Baxter County Treasurer Jenay Mize show Baxter County’s revenue portion equals $491,810 which is an increase of 9.2% in sales tax revenue compared to the October 2021 collection of $450,413.
Clark has reported the city collected $249,416 from its own 2.13% sales tax which is an increase of 10.5% compared to last year’s total of $225,564.
Sales tax reports are released by the state Department of Finance and Administration two months after the taxes are collected by area businesses. October’s numbers reflect area spending from August.
Mountain Home also received $266,048 in October revenue from the county’s 1% sales tax. Other Baxter County cities receiving revenue from the county’s sales tax include:
– Gassville, which received $45,036;
– Cotter, which received $18,379;
– Lakeview, which received $16,076;
– Salesville, which received $9,812;
– Norfork, which received $9,646;
– Briarcliff, which received $4,895; and
– Big Flat, which received $1,825.
Year-to-date, Mountain Home has collected $5.4 million from its 2.13% sales tax which is an 8% increase compared to last year.
Baxter County received $215,882 in revenue from its 0.25% sales tax for maintenance and operation of the Baxter County Detention Center. For the year, it has received over $2 million from that sales tax.
Mountain Home received $208,937 in October from its 0.375% sales tax to support its police and fire departments which is an 8% increase from last year.
Mountain Home has collected $278,583 from the park improvement sales tax, which is $58,193 more than needed for Bond Payment of $220,390.
Park operation sales tax for October collected equals $139,291.
