Rural Special girls finish 2nd in Class 1A state cross country meet

Two area schools competed in the Class 1A divisions of the Arkansas State Cross Country Meet Thursday in Hot Springs.

Rural Special finished as the runner-up on the girls’ side at Oaklawn Racing Casino Resort. The championship went to Kingston. The Lady Rebels were led by Rayleigh Turner with a 10th-place finish in a time of 24:41.73. Peyton Macejewski of Mount Ida captured the individual win.

Rural Special and Timbo were tied for third on the boys’ side. Ozark Catholic won the title, and the Founders Classical Academy was second. Rural Special’s Jacob Morris was the top individual runner as he finished eighth in a time of 19:07.77. Isaac Pohlmeier of Ozark Catholic took the individual championship.
