In a previous story, KTLO, Classic Hits and The Boot Sports heard from members of the baseball program at Arkansas State University-Mountain Home, but that’s not the only new program at the local institution. Trailblazer softball is also preparing for its inaugural spring season coming up in 2023.
ASU-Mountain Home softball will be under the direction of head coach JoAnn Baeten. At the university’s recent media day, Baeten said she is looking forward to getting the upcoming season started.
Listen:
Baeten brings a wealth of experience to the Trailblazers after her time coaching softball in southern California. Mattie Belk of Mountain Home is one of the members of the inaugural team, and she says Baeten’s knowledge of the game has helped the program get started.
Listen:
Keilee Robberson of Ratcliff is another athlete preparing to take the field this spring. She says the fall session they went through was a good opportunity to get some games under their belt and see what they need to work on.
Listen:
ASU-Mountain Home did have to scale back its fall season just because of its early numbers. Baeten says that will also be the case this spring.
