Monday basketball results include Viola boys falling in Cabool tourney

Three area high school boys’ basketball teams began action in the Cabool Holiday Tournament on Monday. Viola fell to Licking 72-52, Gainesville was able to upset Alton 79-70, and Dora lost to Mansfield 66-16.

Three other area boys’ teams played in the first two games in the Maverick Division of the Bad Boy Mowers Ronnie Brogdon Invitational.
Calico Rock ended up falling to Mammoth Spring 65-57. Brayden Cray led the Bears with 22 points, Gavin Boddie scored 14, Nathaniel Rogers had 11, and Andrew Jones added 10 points.
Melbourne got beat in the second game on Monday. The Bearkatz suffered a 66-41 loss to Highland.

Gainesville’s girls began the Mountain Grove Holiday Tournament on a rough note. The Lady Bulldogs lost to Chadwick by a final of 61-19.

Three area boys’ teams lost their first games in the Gold Division of the Blue and Gold Tournament at Springfield. West Plains fell to Marshfield 53-49, Branson was toppled by Springfield Parkview 59-36, and Ava lost to Logan-Rogersville 57-21.

Both of Hollister’s teams were victorious to begin the Walnut Grove Holiday Classic. The top-seeded Tiger boys pounded Greenfield 82-24. Hollister’s girls beat Spokane 49-32.
