
High school basketball dominates the local Thursday schedule and includes the end of a three-day event at Mountain Home. The Bombers and Lady Bombers will both compete for third place in the Ulitmate Auto Group Basketball Tournament.
Mountain Home’s boys will be matched up with Paragould. The Bombers are 8-7 after their loss to Greene County Tech on Wednesday. The Rams fell to Farmington in the other semifinal. Tip-off at Bomber Gymnasium is scheduled for 12:40.
In the other boys’ games at the Hangar, Flippin meets Greenwood for fifth place at 10, and Tech faces Farmington for the championship at 3:20. The seventh place game between Cave City and Junction City is scheduled for 10 on the junior high campus.
The Mountain Home girls will follow their male counterparts by taking on Fair Grove, Missouri. The Lady Bombers are 8-7 following a loss to Paragould. The Lady Eagles were toppled by Farmington in the other semifinal. Gametime is set for 2.
In the other girls’ games at Bomber Gymnasium, Flippin plays Clinton for fifth place at 11:20, and Paragould will be paired with Farmington in the title game. Salem will meet Rogers for seventh place at 11:20 in the junior high gym.
The Arkansas State University-Mountain Home/Arvest Bank Winter Jam will come to an end at Yellville-Summit. The boys’ game between Mountain Home Christian Academy and Lead Hill tips off at 3, and both of the host teams face Bakersfield starting with the girls at 4:15.
Two area girls’ teams will play their final games in the Lady Blackhawk Holiday Invitational at Pea Ridge. Viola takes on Star City for third place at 2:30, and Mammoth Spring plays Pea Ridge for the championship at 4.
The Bad Boy Mowers Ronnie Brogdon Invitational will come to an end at Highland. In the Maverick Division, Mammoth Spring and Cedar Ridge tip off at 10 in the seventh place game, Calico Rock goes up against Middle College from Memphis at 3, and Izard County meets the host Rebels for third place at 4:15.
Melbourne’s girls will compete in the Division II semifinals of the NEA Tournament on the campus of Arkansas State University in Jonesboro. The Lady Bearkatz face Nettleton at 3 at First National Bank Arena.
The quarterfinal round of the North Arkansas College Invitational Tournament will come to an end at the Pioneer Pavilion in Harrison. On the boys’ side, Bergman and Omaha get started at 4, and Valley Springs takes on Jasper at 6:40. On the girls’ bracket, Valley Springs plays Alpena at 5:20, and Jasper will be matched up with Kingston at 8.
Three area girls’ teams will compete on the third day of the Pink and White Tournament at Springfield. Two of those teams in the Pink Bracket will play at the O’Reilly Family Event Center on the Drury University campus as Ava meets Marshfield at 11, and West Plains faces Nixa in the semifinals at 2. Branson is in the White Bracket consolation semifinals, and they’ll take on Springfield Parkview on the campus of Kickapoo High School.
The Branson boys will play their final game in the Blue and Gold Tournament on the campus of Missouri State University in Springfield. The Pirates will compete for the consolation title of the Gold Division against Willard. The game is set for 5:30 at the Hammons Student Center.
