
The positive trends have continued through the years end for Baxter County and the City of Mountain Home’s sales tax revenue.
According to Alma Clark, the City of Mountain Home’s Director of Finance and Treasury, the city collected a total of $563,749 in city sales tax revenue for December which is an increase of 7% from this time last year. Year-to-date, the city has seen a total increase of $484,085 which is an increase of 8%. Year-to-date, Mountain Home has collected $6.5 million from its 2.13% city sales tax which is an 8% increase compared to last year.
Figures released by Baxter County Treasurer Jenay Mize show Baxter County’s revenue portion equals $470,938 which is an increase of 4.7% in sales tax revenue compared to the December 2021 collection of $449,857.
Sales tax reports are released by the state Department of Finance and Administration two months after the taxes are collected by area businesses. The following numbers were received in December, which reflect area spending from the month of October.
Mountain Home received $254,757 which is an increase of 4.7%, or $11,404 compared to last year’s total of $243,353 in December revenue from the county’s 1% sales tax. Year-to- date, Mountain home has collected $3.097 million of the City’s portion of the county sales tax.
Other Baxter County cities receiving revenue from the county’s sales tax include:
– Gassville, which received $43,125;
– Cotter, which received $17,599
– Lakeview, which received $15,394;
– Salesville, which received $9,395;
– Norfork, which received $9,236;
– Briarcliff, which received $4,687; and
– Big Flat, which received $1,748.
Baxter County received $206,721 in revenue from its 0.25% sales tax for maintenance and operation of the Baxter County Detention Center. For the year, it has received over $2.5 million from that sales tax.
Mountain Home received $211,405 for December from its 0.375% sales tax to support its police and fire departments which is an 7% increase from last year. Year-to-date this is an increase of $181,531 over last year, which is an 8% increase. Annually, Mountain Home received $2.47 million.
Mountain Home has collected $281,874 for December from the park improvement sales tax, which is $61,484 more than needed for Bond Payment of $220,390. Annually, for park improvement the total collected equals $3.29 million.
Park operation sales tax for December equals $140,937. Annually the park operations collected $1.6 million.
