MH finishes with above-average rainfall for 2022; 1 record broken in December

The Twin Lakes Area ended up above average in rainfall for December and the year of 2022. In addition, a daily record of rainfall was broken, and snow was recorded on one day during the month.

At KTLO, Classic Hits and The Boot, the official reporting station for the National Weather Service in Mountain Home, 3.9 inches of rain were recorded in the final month of the year. That is 13 hundrenths of an inch above the normal of 3.77.

The 24-hour precipitation of 1.03 inches recorded on the morning of Dec. 8 broke the record for that day. The previous record for Dec. 18 was 1.01 inches in 1956. It was one of 12 days in the month for measurable precipitation.

The total amount of rainfall last year in Mountain Home was 55.19 inches. The city ended up 4.33 inches above the annual average of 50.86.

The only day for snowfall to be recorded during the month was Dec. 23 at one inch. That same day, the month’s lowest temperature was recorded at -5 degrees. The highest temperature was 71 exactly one week later on Dec. 30.

The average high for December was 46 degrees. The average low was 28.9.
