Basketball makes up the local Thursday schedule and includes three of Mountain Home’s junior high teams in Jonesboro for a meeting with Annie Camp. The eighth grade boys’ game tips off at 5 followed by both freshman contests.
Elsewhere on the junior high level, Yellville-Summit travels to Berryville, Salem hosts Newport, Melbourne makes the trip to Cave City, Marshall entertains Shirley, Mountain View heads to Hoxie, and Bergman travels to Valley Springs.
A few area high school girls’ teams will play their openers in the Sparta Lady Trojans Classic Tournament. Gainesville meets the host school at 4, Bakersfield faces Forsyth at 6:30, and Hollister takes on Hartville at 7:45.
Two area boys’ teams will continue play in the Seymour Bank Winter Classic. Dora plays Lighthouse Christian at 5:30, and Bakersfield will be paired with Chadwick at 7.
In other high school action, Mountain Home Christian Academy makes the short trip to Cotter, Flippin is home against Lead Hill, Timbo heads to Greers Ferry to face West Side, and Jasper travels to Mount Judea.
