Friday basketball schedule includes MHHS league opener at Siloam Springs

High school basketball makes up the local Friday schedule, and for Mountain Home, it marks the start of the 5A-West conference slate. The Bombers and Lady Bombers will be on the road for an outing with Siloam Springs. Mountain Home’s girls are currently 9-7 on the season. The Lady Bombers’ last game was eight days ago when they beat Fair Grove, Missouri, to finish third in the Ulitmate Auto Group Basketball Tournament. Siloam Springs has a record of 7-7. The Lady Panthers won the Gravette Christmas Tournament last Thursday after a 10-point victory over the host Lady Lions.

The Mountain Home boys enter league action with a mark of 9-7. The Bombers also finished third in their home tournament last week after beating up on Paragould in their final game. Siloam Springs is 8-6 on the year. The Panthers lost to Holland Hall from Tulsa, Okla., on Dec. 29 to finish second in the Gravette Christmas Tournament.

The junior varsity boys’ game tips off at 4:45 at the Panther Activity Center. The varsity contests begin around 6 and will be on Classic Hits 101.7 and streaming live at ktlo.com and the Bomber Sports Network on YouTube.

Also in the 5A-West, Harrison travels to Alma, Greenbrier hosts Van Buren, and Russellville makes the trip to Greenwood.

A few area girls’ teams will resume action in the Sparta Lady Trojans Classic Tournament. On the consolation side of the bracket, Gainesville and Greenwood tip off at 4, and Bakersfield takes on Hollister at 8:30. Forsyth plays Hartville in the semifinals at 7.

Elsewhere, Mountain Home Christian Academy heads to West Plains to meet Ozarks Christian, Cotter travels to Greenland, Flippin entertains Green Forest, Yellville-Summit is home against Life Way Christian, Viola is hosts Shirley, Calico Rock makes the trip to Fox to face Rural Special, Gainesville’s boys head to Conway, Ozark Mountain entertains Eureka Springs at Western Grove, Salem is home against Mountain View, Izard County travels to Quitman, the Dora girls make the trip to Thayer, Mammoth Spring hosts Armorel, Melbourne heads to Hoxie, Marshall entertains Cedar Ridge, Lead Hill travels to Deer, Bergman is home against Lincoln, Valley Springs hosts West Fork, and Omaha entertains Oark.
