Friday basketball results include MHCA splitting boys’ games at Ozarks Christian

Mountain Home Christian Academy splits its two boys’ basketball games with Ozarks Christian Friday in West Plains.
The Eagles won the varsity game 84-64. Jordan Woods paced Mountain Home Christian with 38 points and 14 rebounds, Kolby Woods had 18 points, Gabriel Rogers provided 17 points, and Riley Peglar ended up with 11.
Mountain Home Christian’s junior boys were not as fortunate as they were edged out by Ozarks Christian 48-46. Konner Woods and Evan Palella were the Junior Eagles’ top scorers with 14 points each, and Reif Murray finished with 12.

Cotter’s high school teams had mixed results at Greenland. The Lady Warriors defeated the Lady Pirates 39-32. Cotter’s boys had a different result as they lost to Greenland 52-27.

Yellville-Summit invoked the mercy rule in both of their wins over Life Way Christian. The Lady Panthers routed the Lady Warriors 61-26. Yellville-Summit later won the boys’ game 64-33.

Viola split its high school games at home with Shirley. The Lady Longhorns put the mercy rule in effect as they pounded the Lady Blue Devils 57-27. The Viola boys ended up falling to Shirley 67-48.

Calico Rock’s boys had a successful road trip. The Pirates went to Fox and topped Rural Special by a final of 57-27.

A few area girls’ teams played on the second night of the Sparta Lady Trojans Classic Tournament. On the consolation side of the bracket, Bakersfield was edged out by Hollister 45-42, and Gainesville fell to Greenwood 50-21. Forsyth advanced to the championship game after destroying Hartville 45-16.

Gainesville’s boys were able to pick up a win on the road. The Bulldogs squeaked by Conway 55-53.

The Ozark Mountain boys notched another victory on their home floor in Western Grove. The Bears beat Eureka Springs 42-34.

Salem had mixed results as they hosted Mountain View.
The Lady Greyhounds ended the game on a 29-3 run to defeat the Lady Yellowjackets 62-48. Chelsea Hamilton led Salem with 18 points, and Kelsey Humphries added 13. The Lady Greyhounds improve to 14-3 on the season and 6-0 in the 3A-2.
The boys’ contest had a different result. Salem suffered a 59-32 loss to Mountain View.

Mammoth Spring grabbed a pair of easy wins over Armorel.
The Lady Bears invoked the mercy rule by pounding the Lady Tigers 65-23. Mammoth Spring was led by Brynn Washam and Adrianna Corbett with 16 points each.
Mammoth Spring’s boys followed with a 64-39 victory over Armorel. Gavin Boddie was the Bears’ leading scorer with 20 points, and Blake Rogers chipped in 10.

Melbourne was able to destroy Hoxie in a three-game sweep. The Bearkatz breezed past the Mustangs 62-37 in the senior boys’ game. The senior girls’ contest was more lopsided with Melbourne thrashing Hoxie 64-23. The night began with Melbourne’s junior boys beating up on Hoxie 32-3.

Lead Hill went on the road and picked up a three-game sweep at Deer.
The Tigers won the senior boys’ game over the Antlers 67-48. Quintin Sewell paced Lead Hill with 26 points and 10 rebounds, Jayce Williams scored 15 points and dished out 10 assists, Kaden Baker had 13 points and 10 boards.
Lead Hill was also able to take the senior girls’ contest. The Lady Tigers got past Deer 49-45.
Lead Hill’s junior boys started the night by routing Deer 49-20. The Junior Tigers were led by Brett Arnold 22, and Coda Lemon provided 13.

Bergman’s boys had another easy win at the Panther Palace. The Panthers topped Lincoln by a score of 75-49.

Valley Springs had mixed results against another group of Tigers from West Fork. The Valley Springs girls nearly doubled up West Fork 54-29. Valley Springs’ boys lost to West Fork 70-63.
