Basketball makes up much of the local Saturday schedule as Mountain Home will be among several area schools competing in the Cave City 7th Grade Tournament.
The boys’ games will be played at the middle school. Izard County and Cave City tip off at 9, Mountain Home meets Highland at 9:45, and Flippin faces Batesville at 11:15.
The girls’ games will be at the high school. Melbourne and Cave City get underway at 9, and Mountain Home takes on the winner in the semifinals at 12:20. Izard County plays Pocahontas at 9:50, and Salem will be paired with Southside Batesville at 10:40.
A few area schools will begin action in the Screamin’ Eagle Junior Invitational at Hillcrest Elementary School in Lynn. On the girls’ side, Calico Rock and Maynard get started at 10, Mammoth Spring meets Cedar Ridge at 12:20, and Norfork faces Corning at 3:50. On the boys’ bracket, Calico Rock takes on Hillcrest at 11:10, Mammoth Spring plays Corning at 1:30, Norfork will be matched up with Maynard at 6:10.
On the high school level, a few area girls’ teams will wrap up the Sparta Lady Trojans Classic Tournament. Bakersfield and Gainesville will compete for seventh place at 3, Hollister meets Greenwood for the consolation title at 4:30, and Forsyth faces Sparta for the championship at 7:30.
The Kell Classic will continue at Swifton. In the boys’ games, Melbourne takes on East Poinsett County at 2, and Izard County plays Bay at 4:40. The top-seeded Mammoth Spring girls will go up against Buffalo Island Central at 3:20.
