Monday basketball results include MH junior high teams getting swept by Marion

Mountain Home ended up getting swept in four junior high basketball games at home against Marion on Monday.
In the freshman girls’ game, the Junior Lady Bombers were edged out by the Junior Lady Patriots 46-43 for the top spot in the Northeast Arkansas Conference. Laken Anderson led Mountain Home with 17 points, and Jayla Yonkers added 16 as she was 6-of-7 from the charity stripe.
Mountain Home’s freshman boys did not fare any better as the fell to Marion 51-26. The Junior Bombers were led by Rhett Gilbert with 16 points. Mountain Home drops to 7-10 on the year.
The eighth grade girls’ game needed overtime to decide a winner. Mountain Home ended up losing to Marion by a final of 18-17.
Mountain Home also lost the eighth grade boys’ contest to Marion 40-25. The Eighth Grade Bombers fall to 8-5 on the year.

The Screamin’ Eagle Junior Invitational wrapped up its quarterfinal round at Hillcrest Elementary School in Lynn. Norfork’s girls were eliminated by Salem 32-13. On the boys’ side, Salem squeaked by Maynard 35-32, and Mammoth Spring was bounced by Sloan-Hendrix 54-26.

In other junior high action, Cotter’s girls had a successful road trip. The Junior Lady Warriors beat up on Kingston 26-11.

On the high school level, Bakersfield’s girls picked up a win in their short trip to Gainesville. The Lady Lions got past the Lady Bulldogs 40-38.

Izard County was able to pick up a three-game sweep at Lead Hill.
The Cougars took the senior boys’ game over the Tigers 66-47. Kasen Black was Izard County’s top scorer with 18 points, and Keaton Melton chipped in 15. Jayce Williams had 14 points for Lead Hill, and Quintin Sewell provided 11.
Izard County also beat Lead Hill 52-31 in the senior girls’ contest. Quinn Johnson paced the Lady Cougars with 23 points, and Makensie Yancey finished with 13.
The evening began with Izard County’s junior boys topping Lead Hill 45-28. The Junior Cougars were led by Garrett Dillard with 15 points, and Sebastian Nussbickel ended up with 12. Brett Arnold scored 11 points for the Junior Tigers. Izard County improves to 10-3 on the season.

Two area boys’ teams were eliminated from the Kell Classic at Swifton. Mammoth Spring fell to Marmaduke 78-67, and Melbourne lost to Rector 53-43.
