5 area schools awarded postseason tournaments

The Arkansas Activities Association has announced its winning bids for several of this year’s postseason tournaments, and five area schools are on the list.

Calico Rock has been awarded the Class 1A Region 2 Tournament for basketball, and the Class 3A Region 2 Tournament will be played at Mountain View. Regional tournaments are set for Feb. 22-25.

For baseball and softball, Valley Springs had the winning bid for Class 3A Region 1, and Omaha will be the host school for Class 1A Region 1. The regional baseball and softball tournaments are scheduled for May 4-6.

The first three rounds of the Class 3A State Soccer Tournaments have been awarded to Bergman. The first three rounds of the state tournaments will be held May 11-13, and the championship matches are May 19-20 in Conway.
