Basketball makes up much of the local Thursday schedule and includes three of Mountain Home’s junior high teams in Jonesboro for an outing with Douglas MacArthur. The eighth grade girls’ game tips off at 5 followed by both freshman contests.

Three area teams will compete in the semifinals of the Screamin’ Eagle Junior Invitational at Hillcrest Elementary School in Lynn. On the girls’ side, Salem meets Maynard at 4, and Mammoth Spring faces top-seeded Sloan-Hendrix at 6:20. Salem’s boys take on Cedar Ridge at 5:10.

In other junior high basketball, Cotter travels to Alpena, Ozark Mountain hosts Lead Hill on the Bruno-Pyatt campus in Eros, Melbourne makes the trip to Newport, Marshall heads to Bergman, Mountain View travels to Walnut Ridge, and the Harrison boys entertain Alma.

Mountain Home’s seventh graders will go one county over to play Yellville-Summit. The junior varsity girls’ game starts at 5 followed by the J.V. boys and both varsity contests.

On the high school level, Mountain Home Christian Academy makes the trip to Bakersfield, Flippin is home against Kingston, and Gainesville’s girls host Dora.
