Thursday basketball results include MH winning 1 of 3 junior high games at MacArthur

Mountain Home came away with one win in three junior high basketball games with Douglas MacArthur Thursday at Jonesboro.
After being up just five at halftime of the freshman girls’ game, the Junior Lady Bombers outscored the Lady Cyclones 28-5 in the second half for a 55-27 victory. Jayla Yonkers led Mountain Home with 24 points, Cara Jackson scored 14, and Laken Anderson added 10.
Mountain Home did not fare as well in the freshman boys’ contest as fell to MacArthur 39-35. The Junior Bombers drop to 7-11 on the season.
The evening began with Mountain Home’s eighth grade boys losing to MacArthur 48-29. The Eighth Grade Bombers fall to 8-6 on the year.
All three Mountain Home teams will host West Memphis West next Thursday.

Cotter was able to win a pair of junior high girls’ games over Alpena.
The Junior Lady Warriors took the varsity game over the Junior Lady Leopards 34-25. Cotter was led by Kenna Collins with 13 points.
Cotter also beat Alpena in the seventh grade contest by a final of 15-5.

Three area teams took part in the semifinals of the Screamin’ Eagle Junior Invitational at Hillcrest Elementary School in Lynn. On the girls’ side, Salem squeaked by Maynard 30-29, and Mammoth Spring fell to top-seeded Sloan-Hendrix 40-20. Salem’s boys were edged out by Cedar Ridge 31-30.

Mountain Home’s seventh grade girls picked up victories over two Yellville-Summit teams.
The Seventh Grade Lady Bombers first topped the Seventh Grade Lady Panthers 22-12. Maggie Norcross was Mountain Home’s top scorer with 13 points.
The Seventh Grade Lady Bombers later defeated Yellville-Summit’s eighth graders 24-7.

On the high school level, Mountain Home Christian Academy was swept at Bakersfield.
The boys’ game was a high-scoring affair with the Eagles losing to the Lions 104-72. Riley Peglar led Mountain Home Christian with 25 points, Kolby Woods had 21, and Jordan Woods chipped in 20.
Mountain Home Christian’s girls also fell to Bakersfield 52-34. The Lady Eagles were led by Caroline Robinson with 14 points.

Flippin swept a pair of high school games over Kingston.
The Bobcats won the boys’ game over the Yellowjackets 60-51. Rilyn Robins was Flippin’s leading scorer with 20 points, and Corbin Rogers provided 17. The Bobcats improve to 15-11 on the season.
Flippin’s girls also defeated Kingston 67-45.

The girls’ game between Gainesville and Dora went to overtime. The Lady Falcons hit a free throw with no time on the clock to get past the Lady Bulldogs 31-30.
