A Gainesville man pled guilty to stealing a diamond ring and to drug-related charges during a session of Baxter County Circuit Court Monday.
Thirty-five-year-old Edward W. Guzik, Jr., was sentenced to six-years probation.
In late July 2021, a woman reported the theft of a diamond ring. She told investigators a contractor had been working in the area of the home where the ring had been kept.
She told investigators Guzik was the contractor who did the work for her.
The ring was recovered in mid-September 2021 when a vehicle driven by Guzik was pulled over in Gassville by an Arkansas State Police trooper. The ring, along with drugs and drug paraphernalia, were recovered from the vehicle.
Guzik’s attorney, Emily Reed, said her client had made efforts on his own to obtain treatment for an addiction problem. She said Guzik was “doing very well” in getting his life back on track.
A revocation petition filed in an earlier case involving Guzik was dismissed by the state.
