Thursday basketball results include MH winning 2 of 3 junior high games over West Memphis West

Mountain Home came away with two wins as they hosted West Memphis West for three junior high basketball games on Thursday.
In the freshman girls’ game, the Junior Lady Bombers routed the Lady Blue Imps 51-22. Jayla Yonkers led Mountain Home with 21 points, Laken Anderson scored 12, and Deanna Human added 10 points and grabbed 15 rebounds.
Mountain Home also took the freshman boys’ contest 37-26 over West Memphis West. The Junior Bombers were led by Rhett Gilbert with 19 points, and Andrew Haney chipped in 10. Mountain Home improves to 8-11 on the season.
Mountain Home’s only loss was in the eighth grade boys’ game as they fell to West Memphis West 28-20. Tucker Thompson was the Eighth Grade Bombers’ top scorer with 13 points. Mountain Home drops to 8-7 on the year.

Cotter had three wins in four junior high games with Viola.
The Junior Warriors won the varsity boys’ game over the Junior Longhorns 43-26. Cole Principato paced Cotter with 13 points, and Will Morris had 10.
Cotter did not fare as well in the varsity girls’ contest. The Junior Lady Warriors suffered a 28-23 defeat to Viola.
Cotter’s seventh grade boys had a successful night. The Seventh Grade Warriors were able to get past Viola 22-17.
The night began with Cotter’s seventh grade girls beating Viola 27-11. The Seventh Grade Lady Warriors were led by Reagan Cowart with 10 points.

The Norfork High School girls came up just short in their opener in the Nixa Invitational Tournament. The Lady Panthers, currently ranked second in Class 1A by the Arkansas Sports Media, were edged out by the host Lady Eagles 53-51. Norfork falls to 18-4 on the season.

Bakersfield was able to breeze their way to winning the championship of the Houston Community Foundation Boys’ Basketball Tournament. The Lions invoked the mercy rule as they destroyed Couch 83-52. Bakersfield improves to 13-4 on the year.

The Gainesville girls had a rough outing on their home floor. The Lady Bulldogs ended up falling to Mansfield by a final of 54-15.

Mammoth Spring’s girls took home their third championship trophy of the season. The Lady Bears, currently the top-ranked team in Class 1A, wrapped up the Thayer Winter Classic by getting past the host Lady Bobcats 43-39. Adrianna Corbett was Mammoth Spring’s leading scorer with 13 points, Brynn Washam provided 12, and Sara Crowe finished with 10.
