
Mountain Home Christian Academy had a rough night on Monday as they were swept in three basketball games at home by Lead Hill.
The varsity boys’ game ended with the Eagles falling to the Tigers 87-75. Kolby Woods led Mountain Home Christian with 30 points, Riley Peglar scored 17, Evan Palella had 15, and Jordan Woods added 10 points. For Lead Hill, Kaden Baker provided 24 points and grabbed 10 rebounds, Quintin Sewell finished with 23 points, and Mason Cain ended up with 20 points and 13 assists.
Mountain Home Christian did not fare any better in the varsity girls’ contest as they lost to Lead Hill 66-21. The Lady Eagles were led by Caroline Robinson with 17 points.
The evening began with Mountain Home Christian’s junior boys falling to Lead Hill 66-35. Palella was the Junior Eagles’ top scorer with 14 points. For the Junior Tigers, Coda Lemon had 25 points and 10 rebounds, Alex Gray provided 11 points, and Brett Arnold chipped in 10 points and dished out 13 assists.
The Gainesville girls were able to pick up an easy win on their home floor. The Lady Bulldogs invoked the mercy rule as they routed Koshkonong 63-32. Gainesville will travel to Thayer on Thursday.
Two area boys’ teams lost their openers in the Sparta Trojans Tournament. Gainesville was toppled by Mansfield 68-45, and Ava fell to Sparta 57-37.
Izard County came away with two wins as they hosted Mammoth Spring for three games on Senior Night.
In the senior boys’ game, the Cougars got past the Bears 76-72 in overtime. Tyler Hill paced Izard County with 20 points, Kasen Black scored 19, Wyatt Buchanan finished with 18, and Jude Everett ended up with 14 points. Blake Rogers had 18 points for Mammoth Spring, Brayden Cray provided 14, and Nathaneal Rogers and Gavin Boddie each added 12.
The senior girls’ contest had a different result with Izard County losing to Mammoth Spring 66-25. The Lady Cougars were led by Katie Orf with 14 points. For the Lady Bears, Brynn Washam scored 23 points, and Tay Davis chipped in 20.
Izard County’s junior boys started the night by edging out Mammoth Spring 52-49. Braxton McCandlis and Garrett Dillard were the Junior Cougars’ leading scorers with 16 points each. Izard County improves to 13-3 on the season.
The Omaha High School teams had a rough outing as they were swept at Kingston. The Eagles fell to the Yellowjackets 56-48 in the boys’ game. Omaha also lost the girls’ contest 59-46.
