A Baxter County man, identified as 32-year-old Justin Kelley, has been charged with residential burglary and theft of property stemming from a break in reported in August 2022.
According to the probable cause affidavit, the Baxter County Sheriff’s Office responded to a report of a break in at a residence along Cranfield Road.
When officers arrived, the victim stated they had been away from the property for approximately a week, when they returned to discover the front door had been blocked by a chair from the inside. Inside the residence, a television was found to be relocated to another room and a pair of red and black tennis shoes were found under the kitchen table, which did not belong to the victim. In addition, the victim stated several articles of clothing and numerous tools were missing.
Outside of the residence, a red duffle bag and purple suitcase were located in the grass near the swimming pool, where a woman’s swimsuit along with a towel were found draped over the fence and still wet. The victim identified the suitcase as hers, but it contained someone else’s property.
During the investigation, officers interviewed neighbors in the area who stated they saw a male and female at the pool on numerous occasions in the past week. Other witnesses stated they had seen the couple pulling a rolling style cooler down the road. In the home, officers found empty soda cans where they were able to get a positive identification of the fingerprints matching Kelley’s.
Kelley is currently being held in the Baxter County Detention Center on $19,000 bond.
