A Mansfield man is facing multiple charges after a teenager was run over by a car February 5.
According to the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office Facebook page, officers responded to a call of someone needing law enforcement and medical assistance to a gas station in Ava. Upon arrival, deputies spoke with two juveniles who stated one of them was “car surfing” when she fell off and sustained injuries to her leg.
Authorities observed the driver, 43-year-old Jerry Hall of Mansfield, with slurred speech and glassy eyes, consistent with being under the influence of alcohol. Hall admitted to driving to the gas station when the victim fell off. During a breathalizer test, his blood alcohol content showed to be .269, well over the legal limit of .08.
Hall is charged with DWI – serious physical injury, two counts of endangering the welfare of a child, operating a vehicle without a valid license, failing to register a motor vehicle and operating a motor vehicle without maintaining financial responsibility.
Hall is currently being held in the Douglas County Detention Center on $5,000 bond.
