A rural Baxter County woman was severely burned last week after a bottle of rubbing alcohol caught fire, spilled onto her causing the fire to spread to the rest of the residence along Jordan Road in the Hopewell area. Sixty-one-year-old Regina Lynn was airlifted to Mercy Hospital in Springfield, and her husband, 62-year-old Philip Lynn, was transported by ambulance to Baxter Health with burns to his hands.
According to the incident report from the Baxter County Sheriff’s Office on Feb. 21, Baxter County 911 advised deputies of a report of a female subject being burned at a residence on Bonnie Bo Lane. The complainant stated a male came running inside the residence, yelling his parents were on fire.
Regina Lynn stated a bottle of rubbing alcohol caught fire and she attempted to throw it out outside when it spilled, causing her to catch on fire. When Regina Lynn caught fire, her husband attempted to put the fire out, but was burned in the process. Philip Lynn then wrapped his wife in a blanket, left the residence and drove to the callers house.
The fire was extinguished by the Norfork Fire Department. The report did not indicate the extent of the damage.
