Mountain Home High School, Junior High, Kindergarten and Pinkston Middle School were placed in a precautionary lockout earlier Tuesday afternoon.
As of 1:15 the Mountain Home Police Department gave the district the all clear to resume school as usual. Authorities believed an armed suspected was on foot in the general area, but after speaking with Lieutenant Mike Day, officials state the threat was not as serious in nature as was presented to MHPD.
Day states the suspect has not been apprehended because misinformation was given to the police department. Officials state the suspect never presented an intention to enter a school.
There is no serious threat at this time. More information will be released once it’s available.
Mountain Home Public Schools Communications Director Jennifer Crawford states it was never a lockdown but instead lockout where school continues as usual, but parents and student are not allowed to enter or exit the building. The main difference is a lockdown is more serious in nature and has different safety procedures.
