Two area high school girls’ basketball teams in Missouri played their state quarterfinal games Saturday on the campus of Southwest Baptist University at Bolivar.
West Plains advanced to the Show Me Showdown for the third straight year after beating up on Jefferson City 58-38 in the Class 5 State Tournament. The Lady Zizzers improve to 23-7 on the season, and their semifinal game will be Friday night as they meet Lutheran St. Charles on the campus of Missouri State University in Springfield.
Ava watched its season come to an end in the Class 4 State Tournament. The Lady Bears lost a low-scoring game to Southern Boone 36-27. Ava’s final record is 25-5.
