Monday results include MH JV baseball team sweeping Bergman

The Mountain Home junior varsity baseball team was able to sweep a doubleheader over Bergman Monday at McClain Park. The J.V. Bombers took the first game 6-4 and won the late game 10-0.

In varsity baseball, Flippin was swept in a doubleheader by Elkins. The Bobcats lost to the Elks 15-0 in the first game and 19-2 in the second.

Ozark Mountain had a rough outing in front of the home crowd. The Bears fell to Greenland by a final of 19-0.

Salem suffered a loss on the road. The Greyhounds were defeated by Melbourne by a score of 7-3.

Izard County was able to invoke the mercy rule in the fifth inning to beat up on Quitman 15-5. Kasen Black pitched all five innings for the Cougars, recorded five strikeouts and gave up four hits and four earned runs. At the plate, Tyler Morehead and Gavin Stephens each had two hits and two RBIs; Noah Mosley and Garrett Roberts each provided two hits and scored twice; Porter Burton ended up with a hit and two RBIs; Black, Wyatt Buchanan and Xander McCandlis each finished with a hit and an RBI; and Garrett Buchanan drove in another run.

In softball, Cotter was able pick up a win on their home turf. The Lady Warriors squeaked by Cave City 5-4.

It was a tough road trip for Yellville-Summit. The Lady Panthers were doubled up by Jasper 6-3.

Viola had a rough day on the home field. The Lady Longhorns were edged out by Concord 8-7.

Salem ended up with a short but successful road trip. The Lady Greyhounds were able to top Melbourne 4-2.

Izard County ended up losing to Quitman 11-1. Quinn Johnson, Megan McBride, Katie Orf and Abbie Gilbert each had a base hit for the Lady Cougars, and McKensie Yancey drove in a run.
