One man is dead after a boating mishap on the White River Thursday afternoon. The drowning victims name has not been released pending notification of next of kin. Another man in the boat was able to make it to shore safely.
Marion County Sheriff Gregg Alexander says two men from Missouri were fishing in the Ranchette area of the river about 12:30 this afternoon when their boat ran out of gas. As they tried to restart the motor, the boat collided with a dock, causing the boat to overturn.
The sheriff says the victim drowned but the other man was able to swim to shore and was rescued by another boater.
More details are expected to be released at a later time.
