The West Plains High School girls’ basketball team’s quest to repeat as state champions came to an end in their first game of the Show Me Showdown on Friday. The Lady Zizzers went to Springfield and fell to Lutheran St. Charles 71-50 in the semifinals of the Class 5 State Tournament. West Plains drops to 23-8 on the season, and they’ll meet Notre Dame from Cape Girardeau in the third place game Saturday at noon at Great Southern Bank Arena on the campus of Missouri State University.
