The West Plains High School girls’ basketball team is back in the Show Me Showdown in Springfield for the third consecutive season as they look to defend their state title from last year. The Lady Zizzers will begin the weekend at Missouri State University by meeting Lutheran St. Charles Friday night in the semifinals of the Class 5 State Tournament.
West Plains entered the tournament as the champions of District 6. The Lady Zizzers are currently 23-7 on the year after picking up a 20-point over Jefferson City in Saturday’s quarterfinals.
Lutheran St. Charles, located in the St. Louis suburb of St. Peters, won the District 4 title to advance to the state tournament. The Lady Cougars are 25-5 after beating up on Whitfield last weekend.
Tip-off at the Hammons Student Center is scheduled for 8.
