Baxter Co. Sheriff receives donation for office building renovation

The Baxter County Sheriff’s Office has received a donation from a Mountain Home citizen for the renovation of the new sheriff’s office building.

According to a release from Sheriff John Montgomery, the Baxter County Quorum Court recently approved the purchase of the former Carney Law Office building at the intersection of Seventh Street and Elm Street, adjacent to the Baxter County Detention Center.

The purpose of the acquisition is to provide additional space for county personnel, and serve as a new home for the sheriff’s office criminal investigation division. The sheriff’s office has already taken possession of the building and plans for renovation and a remodel are underway.

Montgomery announced on Tuesday a Mountain Home citizen, who wishes to remain anonymous, made a donation of $10,000 to the Baxter County Sheriff’s Foundation, Inc.

The donor intends for the money to be used toward the remodel and renovation of the building.

The men and woman at the Baxter County Sheriff’s Office state they are very appreciative of the supporters in the community, including all of the donors and local officials.
