Area woman injured after falling from tailgate, getting hit by pickup truck

An Ozark County woman was seriously injured Sunday after she fell from a tailgate and was run over by the pickup truck. Forty-six-year-old Vironica Croney of Tecumseh was transported by air ambulance to Cox Medical Center South in Springfield.

According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, 51-year-old Scott Croney of Tecumseh was backing up his truck on Ozark County Road 328, and Vironica Croney was on the tailgate. They were nearly three miles east of Zanoni when Vironica Croney fell off the tailgate, and the truck continued to back up and run over her.

Scott Croney was not injured, and the truck had no damage from the noon accident.
