
Several area junior high track teams gathered in Harrison on Tuesday for the Junior Goblin Relays at F.S. Garrison Stadium.
On the boys’ side, Mountain Home finished as the runner-up in the team standings. Harrison took the win, Yellville-Summit was fifth, Bergman ended up sixth, Flippin took seventh place, Omaha finished ninth, Ozark Mountain and Valley Springs were tied for 10th, Lead Hill took 12th place, Harrison’s B squad finished 13th, and Izard County was 14th.
Individually for the Junior Bombers, Barrett Miller won the 100-meter and 200-meter dashes, Garrett Barr won the 800-meter and 1600-meter runs, Kaleb Daniel won the pole vault, Nathan Yarborough won the discus and ended up fifth in the shot put, Trenton Smith took second place in the 1600-meter run, William Taylor finished second in the 800-meter run, Connor Schulz was second in the 200-meter dash and third in the 100-meter dash, Dayton Davis ended up second in the 300-meter hurdles and third in the 110-meter hurdles, Leo Grubbs took second place in the high jump and fourth in the triple jump, Brayden Henn finished third in the triple jump, Eli Jones was third in the pole vault, Caiden Kasper ended up third in the 800-meter run and fourth in the 1600-meter run, Easton Recktenwald took fourth place in the discus, Isaac Ballard finished fourth in the 200-meter dash and fifth in the 100-meter dash, Liam Alvirez was fifth in the discus, and Mason Griffin ended up fifth in the 400-meter dash. In addition, the team of Davis, Griffin, Taylor and Barr won the 4×400-meter relay; Gray Daniels, Levi Payne, Tyler Lukac and Kohler Matthews took second place in the 4×800-meter relay; and Schulz, Taylor, Taylon Peterson and Griffin finished second in the 4×200-meter relay.
Most of the other wins came from athletes representing Harrison. Lucas Brumley won the high jump, long jump, triple jump, 110-meter hurdles and 300-meter hurdles; Brody Weeks won the shot put; and Killian Greg won the 400-meter dash. Caleb Melendez, Gavin Jones, Mason Isabell and Cash Coclasure won the 4×200-meter relay; and Melendez, Jones, Coclasure and Eli McNutt won the 4×100-meter relay.
Mountain Home was also second in the girls’ team standings with the win going to Berryville. Yellville-Summit ended up third; Bergman took fourth place; Valley Springs finished sixth; Harrison was seventh; Omaha ended up ninth; Flippin, Ozark Mountain and Izard County were in a three-way tie for 10th place; and Cotter and Lead Hill were tied for 13th.
For the Junior Lady Bombers, Olivia McCoy won the pole vault, Pixie Bolick won the 100-meter hurdles and took second place in the 300-meter hurdles, Kori Scroggins won the discus and finished third in the shot put, Camilla Johnson was second in the 100-meter hurdles, Izzy Koehler ended up second in the pole vault and fourth in the 400-meter dash, Caylee Simmons took third place in the pole vault, Cisily Goettler finished third in the 1600-meter run and fifth in the 800-meter run, Lorelai Green was fifth in the 100-meter dash, Lucy Koehn ended up fifth in the 1600-meter run, and Sienna Reed took fifth place in the 300-meter hurdles. The team of Johnson, Bolick, Lily Akhavi and McCoy won the 4×200-meter relay; Johnson, McCoy, Ava Jones and Green won the 4×100-meter relay; Jamie Chandler, Koehn, Simmons and Goettler finished second in the 4×800-meter relay; and Chandler, Koehn, Koehler and Bolick were fourth in the 4×400-meter relay.
Other area athletes picked up wins in the girls’ competitions. Riley Hopson of Yellville-Summit won the 800-meter and 1600-meter runs, and Violet Gamez of Valley Springs won the shot put.
