A Boone County man has been arrested after allegedly becoming drunk, getting physical with his girlfriend and threatening to shoot a man attempting to calm him down.

Boone County authorities dispatched to a residence in reference to a disturbance involving 23-year-old Zachary Canarsky and a firearm. While en route, officials were advised Canarsky was armed with a shotgun and possibly intoxicated.

Upon arrival, deputies attempted to detain Canarsky where he allegedly began to yell and not follow directions while being searched.

Contact was then made with the victim who stated they were at a cookout at Canarsky’s mothers residence when he began to get physical with his girlfriend. The victim then placed Canarsky in a chokehold to calm him down and after the incident, left the residence. The victim then stated as they were driving home Canarsky’s mother called him and said Canarsky was following them.

Once the victim arrived home Canarsky began knocking on the door, allegedly stating he would “blow it down.” The victim stepped out of the residence and told Canarsky he would not shoot him, and Canarsky reportedly replied, “you’re right. I’ll shoot and cut you.”

Canarsky was placed under arrest for aggravated assault and terroristic threatening and transported to the Boone County Sheriff’s Office.

He has been released on a $10,000 bond.
