A student from Guy Berry College and Career Academy (GBCCA) accepted the Diamond in the Rough award on Thursday.
According to a release from Communications Director, Jennifer Crawford, a senior at GBCCA, Trina Baldwin, accepted the AR Association of Alternative Educators Diamond in the Rough award at the state capitol.
Students are nominated for the Diamond Award by teachers and administrators for displaying diligence, perseverance, sensitivity and resiliency.
The selection committee is made up of board members from the Arkansas Association of Alternative Educators and members of the Arkansas Department of Education Alternative Education Unit.
